Paola Moya

Paola MoyaPaola Moya is the principal of Marshall Moya Design. She manages the firm’s executive responsibilities and is actively involved in the design, development, and successful completion of each of the firm’s projects. Moya manages the Marshall Moya Design team, cultivates new business opportunities, oversees the firm’s daily business operations, and leads the firm’s strategic planning.

In 2011, Moya joined a partnership with Michael Marshall to form Marshall Moya Design. Prior to forming the partnership, Moya worked for three years with Marshall at his firm, Michael Marshall Architecture. At this firm, Moya was the project manager of several large projects including a 20,000-square-foot residence, Posto Restaurant, and a submission for an international competition where the firm placed sixth of 350 entries. Before working with Marshall, Moya worked for six years at Georgetown Design Group in Washington, D.C.

Moya has been recognized with international, national, and local design excellence awards from: The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), The American Institute of Architects (DC Chapter), the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association, Graphic Design USA, Forrec, and the American Society of Architectural Illustrators.
Moya has been featured on a variety of local, national, and international media including CNN Español: Juan Carlos Lopez’s segment Latino in America and leading a CNN Español tour of the Howard Theatre with anchor Ione Molinares, Telemundo, Caracol Television and Radio (Colombian National Broadcast), NPR’s Tell Me More, FOX News Latino, Radio America, The Washington Post, The Washington Post Express, The Washington Examiner, WPFW 89.3 FM, .NET International Magazine, and Modern Luxury Magazine.

Moya earned a Finance certification from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania’s Executive Education program. Moya received a Masters degree in Architecture with a Real Estate Development concentration, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from The Catholic University of America (CUA). During her academic career at CUA, Moya was able to learn about world architecture and design through her travels to France, India, Israel, Egypt, Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom.  The chance to travel greatly expanded and influenced her career and sense of design, even to this day. Moya received an Associate’s degree with honors in Architecture from Montgomery College in Maryland.

Moya was born in Bogota, Colombia and she has a Colombian architecture license. She spends her free time traveling. She also shares her architectural expertise through presenting lectures at local universities, serving as a guest critic, and offering career advice to students. Moya tells her personal success story during interviews and speeches to inspire young Latinos to pursue education as the pathway to accomplishment.
